February

Some days are warm (hot if you’re working in the sunshine), and some days are cold(and still feel hot if you’re working in the sunshine). Our temps will act as a yo-yo for a few more months.

We take advantage of the warm days and get work done outdoors. The sunshine feels great, and you work until you’re sore.
I tore down the old metal swing set piece by piece, and Quentin hauled it off to the dump. To replace it Quentin built a new wooden swing frame that is way nicer than the metal swing sets.
I tore down the old duck pen that was falling part. I just need to salvage the wire off of it, and Quentin will haul it to the dump along with all the other trash that has blown around the yard all winter.
We built a straw bale house for Willow in the kidding pen. Bernard has taken over last years kidding pen so I will need to put up chicken wire around the other pen to keep the babies nice and secure, and Quentin will build a gate using the wire from the old duck pen.
My father-in-law brought a basketball goal to us last month, and we have also got that put together. We replaced some bolts, the net, and refastened the back board. Everyone has enjoyed shooting ball in the warm weather as well.

While it’s too cold to be outside we occupy our time inside with school work, cooking, and playing board games. Our favorite games have been Monopoly, Life, and Apples to Apples. We laugh until we cry every time we play Apples to Apples. We were stuck at home for 9 days straight during our big snow storm. We were really ready to get out of the house on that ninth day. I spent the day before shoveling a path down our driveway to get to Quentin’s car because mine was still snowed in. We used my path the next morning to get safely to the car, but by the time we got home it had warmed up so much that the sun had nearly melted all the snow. If you knew how long my driveway was you would know how disappointed I was after shoveling it. Anyways, it still felt good to get out, and Quentin took us all out to eat for Valentine’s Day. I had also received my gift the day before. It had been delayed because of the snow.

We have also already got our baby chicks. We got 6 chicks-all pullets. 2 Rhode Island Reds, 2 Partridge Rocks, and 2 Brown Leghorns.

I hope everyone is enjoying the last of winter and enjoying the warmer days too.

The boys got this ten with a back-packing hunting trip in mind. Maybe it could be a doggy tent also. :)

I finally got to check out your blog. Seems like I have a hard time getting computer time here lately. Your baby chicks are so cute. We will all have to play a game of horse or something on the basketball goal when we ever get to come over. George went to the Mens conference at Liberty over the weekend and guess who he ran into? James! Small world, huh. He said he had driven their church bus up. Talk to you soon. God bless.

Yum your pics of food are soooo yummy. I love chicken wings and nachos. We finally started getting some of our chicks and I finally got slikies after years and years of looking. I have three day olds now just to keep them alive, and hope I have at least one girl.
    Take care
